"Ecomagination" is a global strategy for GE company. GE will be a substantial increase in the environmental technology R & D investment, help customers to solve the increasingly serious global environmental challenges, while reducing their production and business activities in the global greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental protection products and services as a new growth point.
Said in the "Ecomagination" ceremony on Immelt: "at the beginning of twentieth Century, GE began in the China journey from small electromechanical trade and a lighting factory is located in Shenyang, today has become the annual sales of $5 billion China important strategic partners. We started the "Ecomagination" here today, we believe that advanced energy and environmental technology will build a bridge for GE and Chinese, to have unlimited potential for development in the future."
In a memorandum of understanding with the NDRC, GE said it would provide China with the following advanced technologies: gasification combined cycle
Power (IGCC) or "clean coal" technology, advanced wind power technology, regional aviation, advanced locomotive development, sewage, industrial wastewater recycling and desalination, advanced materials, improving building energy utilization rate and reduce the impact on the environment, energy saving, long life 70%-75% lighting system etc..
In order to continue to carry on the China commitment, the next five years, GE will be located in the Shanghai Chinese technology research and development center has a total investment of $50 million "Ecomagination" products. At the same time, GE will provide management and leadership training for 2500 Chinese managers and government officials.
This memorandum of understanding is an important symbol of GE launched "Ecomagination" action in china. As a global development strategy, "Ecomagination" the use of advanced environmental protection technology, support the customer response to the increasingly serious from business development and the challenges of environmental protection. In today's "Ecomagination" to start the ceremony, GE also signed a cooperation agreement with the Tsinghua University study. According to the agreement, Tsinghua University will provide research support for GE in the world and Chinese "Ecomagination" action. Evolution series of locomotives in China - made for the Chinese market, with strong efficiency for long-distance bulk cargo transport services. The engine has a 16 cylinder engine, pollution emissions can be reduced by at least 28%. China's Ministry of Railways has ordered 300 of these 6000 horsepower locomotives.
Cleaner coal and IGCC technology, many of China's factories are already using GE's coal gasification technology. As one of the two main technologies of combined cycle power generation (IGCC) system, GE coal gasification technology can be used more economically to produce chemical products. In IGCC plant, coal gasification technology is used to convert coal into syngas which can be used in gasification combined cycle power generation system. Compared with the traditional thermal power plant, can greatly reduce pollutant emissions.
GEnx aircraft engine for the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, 747-8 power, compared with the previous generation engine, the fuel efficiency will increase 15%, the noise is reduced by 30%, emissions will be significantly reduced.
