With the option of the flat cable system,
you can enjoy all the benefits of a
modern electrical installation. Once the
flat cable has been installed, you can
quickly and reliably place branch circuits
exactly where they are required, without
re-terminating the cable. Modifications
or extensions can be carried out both
rapidly and economically. There are
three versions of the flat cable adapter,
all using the same insulation piercing
technology. One incoming supply
adapter for feeding the flat cable as well
as outgoing adapter available in both
5 and 3 pole variations
With gesis NRG the contact to the
cable is made by turning in special
insulation displacing V-screws. The flat
cable system enables an installation to
be subdivided into individual sections
resulting in a flexible, clear and service-
friendly installation system. In contrast
to rigid busbar systems, the flat cable
can be easily laid out in cable ducts.

Application example General
Power supply and signal section
combined in one cable
By choosing a flat cable system you
gain all benefits of modern electrical
installation. Once the flat cable is drawn
in, you can set branches fast and safely
exactly in the position where they are
required - without having to interrupt
the line! Re-installation and extensions
can therefore be managed in a fast and
economic way.
The 5+2 pole flat cable combines main
power supply and signal section in
one cable. This connection style has
proven to be of great advantage in many
applications, as only one cable has to
be installed. Separate infeed boxes are
available for the main power or signal
section and supply the flat cable via
a screw connector. The modular flat
cable adapters serve as output and
therefore function as transition to the
chosen product line.
Just as required, it might either be
GST 18i3 (power 3 pole, L1, L2, L3),
GST 18i5 (power 5 pole) or BST 14i2/3
(KNX bus / control signals).
Further connection leading to the consumer is done via connectors
of the chosen line and coding. Mechanically coded means that only
the matching male and female connectors can be plugged together,
even in the correct pole configuration. Thus you can be sure that
your different applications are clearly distinguished - without having
to rework wrong connections.

Flat cable system
1. When connecting flat cable
adapters for mains and EIB
bus/control signal, note the
latching side (3 pole on the left,
5 pole on the right). Latch the
components together. Place the
terminal block on the flat cable,
observing the coding on the cable.
2.Slide on the base plate – note the
coding of the terminal block and
cable (see diagram on the left).
The grooves on the terminal block
as well as on the base plate
indicate the correct position of the
adapter on the cable. If it is not
positioned correctly, it is only
possible to slide on the base plate
using a great deal of force. The
unit must then be rotated by 180°
3.Turn the slotted screws in the flat
cable until they reach the stop
Mains: torque = 0.7 Nm
Bus: torque =1.0 Nm
4.Place the cover on top.
Additional notes:
? When mounting the connectors, a
locking device must be used.
? To remove the cover, insert the
screwdriver in the slot and lift
gently.
? The ends of the flat cable must
be terminated with the cable
end cap. This guarantees the
necessary insulation between bus
conductors and power cables.
? Once the adapter has been
removed, the sections of cable
that have been terminated with
piercing screws must be sealed
with insulating tape.
? Caution: Do not connect the
screen to ground.
? The functional reliability can only
be guaranteed if original cable is
used.

General: The voltage supply (incoming supply) in the flat cable is carried out using a
screw-type flat cable adapter. The outgoing boxes can be adapted using
insulation-piercing connection technology. The outgoing units themselves
can be connected using gesis connector systems. The connectors must be
locked with a locking device. The appropriate GST accessories should be
used..

General Information
The OSYSU is used to monitor the open position of an OS&Y
(outside screw and yoke) type gate valve. This device is
available in two models; the OSYSU-1, containing one set
of SPDT (Form C) contacts and the OSYSU-2, containing
two sets of SPDT (Form C) contacts. These switches mount
conveniently to most OS&Y valves ranging in size from 2" to
12" (50mm to 300mm). They will mount on some valves as
small as ?" (12,5mm).
The cover is held in place by two tamper resistant screws that
require a special tool to remove. The tool is furnished with each
device and should be left with the building owner or responsible
party. Replacement or additional cover screws and hex keys are
available. See Ordering Information.
Optional Cover Tamper Switch
A fi eld installable cover tamper switch is available as an option
which may be used to indicate removal of the cover. See
Ordering Information.
Testing
The OSYSU and its associated protective monitoring system
should be inspected and tested in accordance with applicable
NFPA codes and standards and/or the authority having
jurisdiction (manufacturer recommends quarterly or more
frequently).

and smooth the edges of the groove to prevent damage to the valve
packing and to allow the trip rod to move easily in and out of the
groove as the valve is operated.
7. Mount the OSYSU with the trip rod centered in groove.
8. Final adjustment is made by loosening 2 screws (see Fig. 1) and
sliding the OSYSU on the bracket. Adjustment is correct when
switches are not activated with the trip rod seated in the valve stem
groove and that the switches activate when the trip rod moves out
of the groove.
9. Tighten the adjustment screws and all mounting hardware. Check
to insure that the rod moves out of the groove easily and that the
switches activate within one turn when the valve is operated from
the FULL OPEN towards the CLOSED position.
NOTE: CLOSE THE VALVE FULLY TO DETERMINE THAT THE
STEM THREADS DO NOT ACTIVATE THE SWITCH. THE SWITCH
BEING ACTIVATED BY THE STEM THREADS COULD RESULT
IN A FALSE VALVE OPEN INDICATION.
SMALL VALVE INSTALLATION
1. Remove and discard "C" washer and roller from the trip rod.
2. With the valve in the FULL OPEN position, locate the OSYSU
across the valve yoke as far as possible from the valve gland, so
that the trip rod lays against the non-threaded portion of the valve
stem.
3. Loosen the locking screw that holds the trip rod in place and adjust
the rod length (see Fig. 4). When adjusted properly, the rod should
extend past the valve screw, but not so far that it contacts the clamp
bar. Tighten the locking screw to hold the trip rod in place.
NOTE: If trip rod length is excessive, loosen the locking screw
and remove the trip rod from the trip lever. Using pliers, break off
the one (1) inch long notched section (see Fig. 5). Reinstall trip rod
and repeat Step 3 procedure.
4. Mount the OSYSU loosely with the carriage bolts and clamp bar
supplied. On valves with limited clearance use J-hooks supplied
instead of the carriage bolts and clamp bar to mount the OSYSU.
5. Mark the valve stem at the center of the trip rod.
6. Remove the OSYSU. File a 1/8" deep groove centered on the mark
on the valve stem utilizing a 3/16" diameter straight fi le. Round
